Dear Faculty:

The Office of the Provost and Executive Vice President and the Office of the Vice President for Research are collaborating to offer cost-sharing funding for professional development through the National Center for Faculty Development and Diversity (NCFDD). This collaboration is being coordinated by CSU’s Faculty Success Team, led by Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs Sue James.

CSU is an institutional member of NCFDD which offers various faculty success programs, coaching and on-demand support. Many of these programs are free for institutional members. To access these, log into the NCFDD website using your CSU credentials.

CSU Sponsorships and Cost Sharing Available for NCFDD Signature Program: Deadline Nov. 18

NCFDD’s signature program, the Faculty Success Program: Achieve Academic Success and Better Work-Life Balance, requires an additional fee for institutional members. This intensive, 12-week online program is their most popular program. It helps non-tenure track, tenure-track, and tenured faculty develop the skills necessary to increase research and writing productivity while maintaining a healthy work-life balance.

NCFDD’s Spring 2025 Faculty Success Program runs Monday, Jan. 27 through Sunday, April 6.

For the Spring 2025 session, we are encouraging faculty who want to attend to work with our offices on sponsorship and cost sharing. The Office of the Provost and Executive Vice President will continue to cover the NCFDD institutional membership fee, and the Office of the Vice President for Research has generously agreed to cost-share registrations for the Faculty Success Program.

The registration cost is approximately $5,000. This semester, the OVPR has agreed to pay 1/3 ($1,667) of the $5,000 registration fee if the faculty member’s home department and/or college will cover the remaining 2/3 ($3,333). Sponsorship (cost-sharing funding) is available for a limited number of applicants, so we encourage you to apply as soon as possible.

If you want to attend this 12-week program, you must apply for sponsorship by 5:00 pm on Monday, November 18.

To apply, please email Barb Gibbens ([email protected]) with the following information:

    1. Name and department/college affiliation.
    2. Rank and title (e.g., assistant professor, instructor, etc.).
    3. A short paragraph about why you want to attend the program and how it will help you in your career.
    4. A letter of support indicating a clear commitment from your department/college to cover the $3,333.

Once you have sent this information to Barb Gibbens, do not submit your own registration to NCFDD. The CSU Faculty Success Team will register all participants.

In conversations with faculty members who have attended this program previously, they recommend waiting until at least the second year as a faculty member to attend.

Please email me ([email protected]) if you have any questions or concerns about securing funding.

Sincerely,

Susan James
Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs
