Electronic Accessibility – Message to Faculty on CSU’s Legal and Mission-Driven Obligations
Oct. 22, 2024
Dear Colleagues:
This is an important message about our shared responsibility as an institution of higher education to provide accessible materials in our teaching and learning practices. Please take the time to read the information below in its entirety.
The Office of the Provost and Executive Vice President is working with the Assistive Technology Resource Center, Student Disability Center, the Office for Equal Opportunity and other key partners on campus to ensure our systems support our community in compliance with state and federal laws.
Our goal is to enhance electronic accessibility for all CSU-Fort Collins campus stakeholders in compliance with recent state and federal laws. We are dedicated to supporting equitable access and facilitating this transition smoothly for our campus community. As we prioritize and scale our services to support these efforts, we ask for your patience and understanding.
You are an integral part of creating accessible materials. Please do all you can to provide accessible materials in your learning and teaching practices. To assist you in this process, we have compiled the following resources to support you:
- Top 5 tips on Inclusive and Universal Design
- Accessibility by Design Website
- Curated trainings through MyLearning portal (CSU log-in required and search “accessibility”)
- Contact for further assistance: [email protected]
We are grateful for the collaborative efforts put forth by dedicated faculty and campus administrators in identifying support systems. We are excited about the positive impact of these changes and will continue to provide updates throughout this academic year.
Please expect this transition to take some time, and know we are committed to providing support and resources to assist you every step of the way. We want you to feel informed and empowered throughout this process.
Thank you for your continued commitment to making CSU a more accessible and inclusive place for all.
